about

Allison Crowe and her band, Dave Baird on bass, Kevin Clevette on drums, played a concert outdoors in the snow atop Whistler Mountain, B.C., Canada in Spring 2001 (for the World Ski & Snowboard Festival).

The encore was Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - a song that means so much to many coming of age in the '90s+. The revolution rolls on.

Kurt Cobain and his bandmates Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl and the vital grunge scene of the Pacific Northwest inspired Allison Crowe's immersion in rock following her classical and jazz roots.

Visual accompaniment to this alpine audio is excerpted from the 1930 film “Romance sentimentale” - directed by Grigori Aleksandrov and Sergei Eisenstein.

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Words & Music by Kurt Cobain ~ Nirvana
As performed by Allison Crowe

Load up on guns and
bring your friends
it's fun to lose
and to pretend
she's over bored
and self assured
oh no, I know
a dirty word

hello hello hello hello...

With the lights out it's less dangerous
here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
here we are now entertain us
a mulatto
an albino
a mosquito
my libido
yeah

I'm worse at what I do best
and for this gift I feel blessed
our little group has always been
and always will until the end

hello hello hello hello...

with the lights out it's less dangerous
here we are now entertain us
i feel stupid and contagious
here we are now entertain us
a mulatto
an albino
a mosquito
my libido
yeah

and I forget
just why I taste
oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
it was hard to find
oh well, whatever
nevermind

hello hello hello hello...

with the lights out it's less dangerous
here we are now entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
here we are now entertain us
a mulatto
an albino
a mosquito
my libido
yeah, a denial
a denial
a denial...
